Saving TikTok While Protecting National Security

On September 25, 2025, President Donald Trump issued Executive Order 14352, titled "Saving TikTok While Protecting National Security." This order addresses the national security concerns associated with TikTok, a social media app owned by the China-based ByteDance Ltd., by approving a plan for a "qualified divestiture" of its U.S. operations. The divestiture involves establishing a U.S.-based joint venture that will be majority-owned and controlled by American investors, reducing ByteDance's stake to less than 20%. The order also instructs the Attorney General not to enforce the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act for 120 days to facilitate this transition.
